KOHA / LIBRARY AUTOMATION
Prepare a useful Koha project brief
You do not need a long technical specification to begin. A clear description of your library helps identify a workable scope.
Your institution and library
Include the institution name, library type, contact person, approximate collection and membership size, branches, staff numbers and typical daily circulation.
Your current setup
Describe the current software or spreadsheet format, Koha version if already installed, available computers, network, backup arrangements and who manages the infrastructure.
Your operational rules
Summarise membership categories, borrowing limits, loan periods, renewal and reservation rules, fines and other relevant policies. Note which decisions need approval by the institution.
Your intended outcome
Identify whether you need implementation, migration, configuration, training, integrations or support. Describe the immediate problem and how the team will decide that it has been resolved.
Hosting and support
State whether you prefer local or cloud hosting, who will administer the system, what backup and recovery arrangements are needed, and what training or ongoing support you expect.
Share safely
Begin with a short summary. Do not include passwords, database dumps, API keys or identifiable patron information in the website enquiry form. Arrange an appropriate transfer method if a detailed assessment later requires files.
